Flax Oil

This oil is one of the best super oils. It comes from linseeds, but is not to be confused with linseed oil, which is refined and used for industrial uses. It is the most complete source of essential fatty acid, Omega 3, 57%, and also contains Omega 6, 17%. These essential fatty acids are the precursors to a hormone-like substance, called prostaglandins. There have been 30 different prostaglandins discovered and named in 3 families, PGE1, PGE2, and PGE3. These hormones are responsible for keeping blood platelets from sticking, loweres the production of cholesterol in the liver, dilates capillaries, removes excess water from the body, helps utilize insulin for energy maintenance, and acts as an anti-inflammatory, which is effective against arthritis. Flax oil is also an excellent source of many minerals, Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, and Phosphorus.
