Sea Vegetables

The term sea vegetables has been applied to what is commonly known as seaweeds, but these are actually macro-algae of the ocean. These super foods are the most significant source of minerals and trace elements. Sea water is full of these nutrients and is like soil to land vegetables. The sea is where seaweeds absorb their high concentrations of minerals and trace elements. Sea Vegetables are also high in protein. They are readily available to the human body because the minerals are in the organic, and naturally "chelated" form. Chelated minerals are naturally connected to a carrier protein which facilitates their assimilation.

Minerals and trace elements are one of the most important factors to promote health. They act as catalysts for enzymes to create biochemical reactions. They also contain Vitamin C, D, E, K, and B12. Sea Vegetables have been used therapeutically to help protect the body from exposure to radiation, and bind with heavy metals, like mercury and lead, to rid them from the body. They have been used as part of the Japanese diet for thousands of years. Today, macrobiotics is being popularized in the U.S. for its balancing effects and whole food focus. Sea Vegetables comprise 5% of the Macro-biotic diet.
Some sea vegetables are harvested in such pristine and clean areas that they are Certified Organic. But most other sea vegetables are labeled "wildcrafted," and are harvested in clean environments.
